Arthritis pain affects most people at some point in their life. Anyone that has suffered from arthritis pain in the knees, hips, shoulder or spine knows just how debilitating arthritis pain can be.  So what can be done to decrease pain from arthritis?

When arthritis pain gets bad enough, people will often end up at their primary care doctor or orthopedic. The typical protocol in medicine for treating osteoarthritis (wear and tear).

Arthritis Pain, Osteoarthrits, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Physical Therapy Tampa, Physical Therapy New Tampa, Physical Therapy, Wesley Chapel, Chiropractor, Joint pain, Sciatica, back pain, neck pain, lower back pain, low back pain

These drugs like Aleve, Advil, Celebrex and Mobic will often help reduce the pain for months, maybe a year or two if you are lucky. If side effects do not cause a person to stop or they reach their maximum effectiveness and more and more joint wear and tear takes place, the second method modern medicine is employed.

Depending if your doctor is treating you for knee pain, hip pain, neck or back pain will depend on what they tend to inject. Arthrtis pain from the hip or knee will receive a lubricating medication like Synvisc SP?? . Arthritis pain in the spine will be injected with a steroid. These drugs will help the arthritis pain for six months to a year or two but not reverse it.

Total Joint Replacement and Pain Management

Lastly, for knee arthritis pain and hip arthritis pain once the oral medications and injections stop working the next step will be total knee replacement (or partial) or total hip replacement.

For arthritis pain in the spine or referred pain like sciatica modern medicine is limited as to what it has to offer other than the oral medications and injections. People are most likely referred to a spinal surgeon and/or a pain management doctor. The orthopedic or neurologic spine surgeon may perform a surgery to essentially clean out the arthritis. You may be lucky to get 1-5 years of pain reduction depending on the severity of your condition. Pain Management will usually  combine pain killers and epidural injections  for the course of your life to manage your pain. What if I told you there is a breakthrough in conservative treatment for arthritis pain.

A Revolutionary Conservative Pain Treatment!

As a liscensed doctor of physical therapy and owner of Sport and Spine Physical Therapy and Wellness Center in the Tampa, New Tampa, Wesley Chapel, FL areas. I have had the opportunity to learn from the best over the course of my career, working in the NFL, NBA, and VA. I have treated numerous professional baseball, hockey and professional UFC fighters. About one year ago I crossed paths with a colleague, a physical therapist who also was a liscnened acupuncturist. He has been developing an eclectic treatment approach to pain that I truly had to see to believe. I am fortunate enough to be just one of a few clinicians in the world to be trained in this; Reflexive Pattern Therapy.

RPT is a cross between physical therapy and acupuncture (without the needles). Since I started using this type of treatment method, my patients with any type of joint pain, arthritis pain, torn cartilage, headache pain, TMJ/jaw pain,  carpal tunnel syndrome, neck pain, back pain and sciatica to name a few have gotten better 60-70% faster than any treatment including medication. Most experience dramatic decrease in pain on their first visit. RPT is 100% safe, no drugs, no manipulations of the neck or any other body part. An RPT treatment can last from 5 minutes to 15 minutes. In conjunction with a thorough physical therapy prescribed treatment plan to decrease stressors and optimize your body’s function, there have been tremendous transformations in pain relief.
