It may not come as a surprise to you to discover that the majority of Americans suffer from some sort of back pain. In the world, back issues are the chief complaint when it comes to work-related injuries. Whether from bad posture, attempting to carry something that was much too heavy, or simply bad genetics, nearly everyone has had an issue with back problems in their lifetime. What Is Sacral Torsion?

More women have issues with sacral torsion than men do. Though this could be related to childbirth or different sizes in the hips, it can still affect everyone. A triangular bone in the hip region, known as the sacrum, fits within the ilia and when it doesn’t align properly can cause the uncomfortable issue known as sacral torsion. The sacral area is responsible for helping you to walk and balance the weight distribution on your hips. Even with the minimal range of motion necessitated through this region, that little bit is still very important to optimal hip movement and can be quite essential to maintaining spinal integrity. If it isn’t restored properly, the slightest motion could agitate the problem and might cause excruciating pain.

Fortunately, there are some exercises that can be done to help alleviate some of the discomfort. There is a knee-to-chest movement that is very gentle but can be quite effective in helping to minimize any issues you may be experiencing. A side-to-side knee rotation while flat on your back can help reduce the pressure on your hips. A pelvic thrust can also help give a stretch that can be quite satisfying. There are many ways to help give your body a bit of exercise that can help reduce the effects of sacral torsion. Of course, seeing a specialist about this problem could be one of the greatest methods of restoring your hips to normal function.

Whereas bad posture, improper lifting techniques, or even hormonal imbalances can be the chief cause of sacral torsion, it is still treatable and in some cases can even be prevented from having long-term effects.
